December is hard in Seattle

December is a difficult month for many reasons. Holiday stress around feelings of obligation to spend (time and money). The weather is cold and wet most days. Add to all of that the darkness: the sun sets here around 4pm.

I'm behind on my training, but putting plans in place to improve things over the next few weeks as we head into 2018.

Stay tuned!

Hello there!

Hi! My name is Louren, and I love to run.

Wait! Come back!

I didn't always love running. I used to not even like it. It was a means to an end when playing soccer, a conditioning tool to get ready for the season. I reluctantly ran.

After moving to Seattle in 2015, I realized part of my dislike of running *might* have been the climate of the South Eastern United States where I had been living. Running in 100+ weather with 98% humidity is miserable. As I write this, it is currently 60 degrees and 85% humidity while raining. Pretty great weather.

Since starting running regularly in the Spring of 2016, I've learned that Summer running is easy for me, but as the weather gets more challenging and the light changes here, I need extra motivation. That's why I'm creating this blog.

I intend to log my running successes and struggles here for the coming months, and hopefully longer. If you like cheering for somebody who is slow but getting faster, this might be the blog for you. If you like laughing gently at the bizarre misfortunes of somebody who is trying to be healthier in general, this also might be the blog for you. If you are looking for perfection and a serious tone at all times, this might not be the blog for you.

So join me as I run through the next seasons of Seattle weather. Hopefully it will be fun (or at least not painful) for all of us.
